Poker recognized as a mind sport by the IMSA!

The International Mind Sports Association (IMSA) has formally recognized poker as a Mind Sport, joining well-known sports like chess, bridge, mahjong and eSports. Poker is now classified as a mental sport requiring skill, strategy and focus. This is a huge step forward for the poker community.

The World Poker Federation (WPF), which represents more than 45 national federations, spearheaded years of agitation that resulted in the ruling. In keeping with IMSA's requirements for Mind Sports, the WPF has attempted to promote poker as a sport that demands mental skill, strategy, and focus. According to WPF President Igor Trafane, "this recognition reflects the dedication of thousands who view poker as a genuine intellectual discipline.

Poker is strictly regulated because it is regarded as a game of chance in the majority of nations and authorities. Additionally, most people have a bad perception of poker because of the widespread belief that the game is gambling. The acceptance of poker as a mental sport provides significant opportunities and is a great weapon in the campaign to legalize the game.

Poker benefits greatly from this IMSA classification. This choice ought to be promoted in an effort to eventually bring poker up with chess and other games.
